Car insurance classes of use

The class of use is what you use your car for daily. Do you use your car for business, driving to and from work or visiting friends and weekends away? Whatever you use your car for, it is important that you are correctly covered in the event of a claim.

Social, domestic and pleasure

This covers normal day-to-day driving such as shopping, visiting friends and going on day trips. It doesn’t include commuting to a place of work.

Commuting

This provides cover as above, as well as driving to and from one fixed, permanent place of work.

Business class 1

Business class 1 car insurance covers you for social, domestic and pleasure use and driving to and from your place of work. It also covers the policy holder for short business trips between different places of work.

Business class 2

As above, but the policy covers the named driver for travelling to different places of work.

Business class 3

Includes everything that business class 2 covers and covers cars used for commercial travel, such as door to door sales, or for delivering parcels.

Note: Unfortunately, our policies do not offer cover for this class of use.

Adding business use could affect the premium as generally you’ll be driving more miles during busy periods and potentially on unfamiliar roads.

If you are unsure whether you need to add business use or not, give us a call on 0330 127 4500 and we will be able to help you.
